THE SOUL OF ORIENT
Visiting Iran, Cambogia, Lombok, Java and of course Taiwan, Patrice Delmotte produces nine “travel” books that he prefers call photographic promenade to discovery the world heritage of the Iranian culture, the splendor of what remain of the Khmer empire, the biggest Buddhist temple in the world, the life in Lombok, the street of Taiwan and always the life of the people there. |
FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY
In this last exhibition " VISIONS”, Patrice Delmotte explain that photography is no longer that frozen instant of a chosen moment but can becomes an esthetic evolution of that moment, a fine art photography. Patrice Delmotte is also very attracted by the extravagant beauty of the movements made by ballerina and modern dancer. As well by the exquisiteness of the traditional dances of Bali |
FINE ART NUDE PHOTOGRAPHY
For him, a naked body is the most beautiful landscape, sometimes static something moving. As suggestion is sometime more appealing than nudity, he often covers nudity with a transparent drape which he also uses in a dance movement. As the line that distinguishes artistic nude and pornography is very tenuous, he always tries to insert poetry in my photos to avoid vulgarity at all costs. |
WHY A LIBRARY?
One of the master photographers admired most by Patrice Delmotte is “Sebastião Salgado”. He quotes: The word photography comes from the Greek 'photo' which means light and ‘graphein’ write or draw. A photographer re-writes the world with lights and shadows.
Patrice Delmotte don’t have the pretention to re-write the word but as a freelance photographer to write his small vision of his word and to do so his best language is photography.
Why making a fine art photography book? In opposition of argentic photography, one of the great dangers of digital photography is the very large number of photos you can produce without much cost. Stored in memory cards they are lost, dying or dead. To keep them alive, he makes the choice to print the best of his pictures. Making a fine art photo book and only print one copy, cost him about the same if he has to print each of them. This is why he builds a collection. Beside that books are easy to storage and display.
